We are the Sugar River Gardeners (SRG) of Verona, Wisconsin and are excited to “promote the love of gardening through community engagement”! Our objective is to encourage interest in all phases of home gardening and promote better horticultural practices, civic beauty , and the conservation of natural resources. In addition we want to be a strong partner with local organizations/businesses, the City of Verona, Dane County Parks and local environmental groups.

SRG is a community organization started in May 1995 with varying levels of experience in gardening, design, landscaping, and generally anything to do with plants.  We’re also a member of the Wisconsin Garden Club Federation (WGCF), whose mission is to promote the love of gardening, floral design and service to communities through education, civic beautification and environmental projects for many years.  The WGCF began in 1865 as part of the Horticulture Society, and since its beginning has promoted community service in its clubs, from scholarship programs, to individual club projects such as Seeds for Peace, or supporting Heifer International, each club makes community service an important part of their organization.
